This educational program is designed to provide an in depth understanding of the procedures for diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. The learner will gain insight and understanding of the history of dental implants as well as the considerations and recommendations regarding patient selection, surgical and prosthodontic treatment planning, and long-term implant assessment and maintenance. The best practices are presented for the learner to assimilate and subsequently incorporate into patient treatment plans.
The primary goal of this course is to help you learn the process of clinical differential diagnosis of diseases and lesions of the oral mucosa. The first step in successful therapeutic management of a patient with an oral mucosal disease or lesion depends upon creating a differential diagnosis. This course also includes both an interactive and downloadable decision tree to assist in the diagnosis.
Three primary causes have been identified as possible contributors of Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS): (1) neurologic, (2) psychogenic or (3) hormonal. This course gives the participant a working knowledge of the key factors related to BMS and the psychological components, possible etiologies, pathogenesis, treatment protocol, as well as patient education related to BMS.
This continuing education course reviews the fundamental principles of Motivational Interviewing (MI), a collaborative conversational style for strengthening a person’s own motivation and commitment to change.1 Guiding the patient’s internal motivation increases the likelihood that his or her ambivalence about changing will be resolved in the direction of change. The four key principles of MI are reviewed:
Resist the righting reflex.
Understand your patient’s motivation.
Listen to your patient.
Empower your patient.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that caries is perhaps the most prevalent infectious disease in U.S. children. By the time they reach kindergarten, more than 40% of children have caries. To prevent oral disease, preventive interventions must begin at infancy. This course will present to providers the importance of educating their adult patients on when they should begin bringing their children to the dental office for an oral exam and to begin a thorough prevention program that will establish measures to prevent diseases such as Early Childhood Caries (ECC).
